An unexpected addition

Meet Leopold! About a week ago, Dennis looked in his leopard gecko tank that has two geckos only he saw three. We knew the two adults were male and female but it seemed by the internet to involve work to get them to mate and have a successful hatchling. Apparently, you simply have to take mediocre care of them and voila! Baby!

Here's the thing. The egg took 45-60 days to hatch. How in the world did none of us see it? I clean the tank weekly including 5 days before the hatchling was discovered. I think that proves the mediocrity of our care for our lizards.

Isn't he cute?

Now, see, one mating produces 8-10 clutches of 2 eggs each so this little guy may just be the beginning of a legacy. I'm going to put the female in her own tank with a hatching area so we won't have anymore surprises.
